Current Release: Version 8.1
PRO/II is the flagship offering in SimSci-Esscor's Process Engineering Suite (PES). This steady-state simulator performs rigorous mass and energy balances for a wide range of processes. From oil and gas separation to reactive distillation, PRO/II combines the data resources of a large chemical component library and extensive thermodynamic property prediction methods with the most advanced and flexible unit operations techniques. Process engineers benefit from computational facilities to perform all mass and energy balance calculations needed to model most steady-state processes within the chemical, petroleum, natural gas, solids processing, and polymer industries. PRO/II runs in an interactive Windows®-based GUI environment.
Simulation Applications
• Design new processes.
• Evaluate alternate plant configurations.
• Modernize and revamp existing plants.
• Assess, document, comply with environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and debottleneck plant processes.
• Monitor, optimize, improve plant yields and profitability.
What's New in PRO/II?
Maximizing returns from plant assets, increasing collaborative engineering work and reuse of expert know how has become a major focus for the Process Industry in the current business environment. As intense global competition, high raw material costs and a short fall of highly skilled engineering resources putting pressure on profitability, manufacturers and contractors are increasingly looking for ways to drive more value from their investments. PRO/II is helping facing these challenges in several ways.
The SIM4ME Portal is an integration application that starting with PRO/II 8.1 facilitates the powerful combination PRO/II process simulation software with Microsoft® Excel. The SIM4ME Portal creates an Excel spreadsheet that is PRO/II aware, allowing the bidirectional transfer of applicable variables. Combining SIM4ME Portal with PRO/II yields some powerful applications including:
• Populate datasheets in Excel with PRO/II simulation data.
• Create custom operator interfaces in Excel that control the PRO/II simulation.
• Analyze PRO/II simulation data using custom formulas within Excel.
The Thermodynamic Data Manager (TDM) creates a single, consistent module for thermodynamics & physical properties. The TDM calculates pure component and mixture properties as function of state variables and accesses multiple corporate and private data banks of thermo-physical property data. The newest feature within TDM is the ability to perform data regression on pure component and mixture data.
The new SIM4ME reporting mechanism enables users to easily create Excel-based files. Massive amount of information calculated by the simulator can be aggregated and used further down the work flow. The report generator allows users to define the type of information and format desired to publish in an Excel file, and users can generate templates of reports to store and reuse in other simulations, or across all departments.
As part of our vision to support collaborative engineering, PRO/II now allows the usage of Excel as a native Unit Operation. Is the easy and convenient way to incorporate company specific know how like a reactor model as a Unit Operation into the PRO/II environment. This capability, together with the substantially improved User Added Subroutine functionality, enables users to easily integrate their own proprietary or third-party models.
A full integration of BATCHFRAC, the leading Koch-Glitsch technology, serves increased needs of the Chemical and Specialty Chemical industry. The tight integration as Unit Operation into PRO/II enables users to easily designing batch distillation processes within a well known and proven environment.
Finally, several enhancements have been made to the PRO/IIGUI. These functionalities make it easier for users to get quick required information.
Link Upstream Surface Simulation to Downstream Process Flowsheets
The PRO/II MultiSimulation Manager enables production technologists and facilities groups to model from the sandface/IPR to the GOSP/Gas Plant in one model using PIPEPHASE and PRO/II. It handles potential recycles back to PIPEPHASE of gas lift and water injection from the processing facilities.
Add-on Modules for Expanded Functionality
• Application Modules - RATEFRAC, BATCHFRAC, Batch, Electrolyte, Polymer, Profimatics, and AMSIM
• Interface Modules - HTFS, HTRI, and Linnhoff March
